About Sara

Sara provides business-minded advice to top brands and agencies on all aspects of their advertising and marketing efforts. She is a trusted advisor, helping her clients execute integrated marketing campaigns while minimizing legal risks and achieving business goals. Her work covers all facets of traditional and emerging advertising, promotional issues and brand protection. Sara has represented advertisers across a wide range of industries, including retail, travel, technology, automotive, entertainment, consumer packaged goods, cryptocurrency and finance. These clients consist of major companies across all sectors, from Fortune 50 companies to cutting edge startups. In particular, she has extensive experience with advertising compliance on social platforms and in new media and technology, with a deep knowledge of social media platform functionality and policies that govern on-platform advertising.

She advises on a broad variety of marketing and advertising matters and routinely works as a trusted member of her clients’ cross-functional teams to execute marketing campaigns and promotions of all types.  She counsels clients on advertising clearance, claim substantiation, licensing and copyright issues, email marketing, text message programs and e-commerce. She has extensive experience assisting clients with the execution of complex multinational promotions and programs, advising her clients on promotion structure and implementation on a daily basis.

She drafts and negotiates a variety of contracts on behalf of her clients, including third party partnership and advertising agreements media buys, influencer and talent agreements, and sponsorship and co-promotion agreements. Sara’s broad expertise also includes gift card and loyalty program counseling, marketing to children, legal issues associated with the use of user-generated content and mobile marketing. She also leads our team advising a major retailer’s media arm on digital media, advertising and marketing, and AdTech issues.

Her experience includes representing clients before the National Advertising Division and counseling clients in connection with advertising regulatory inquiries. She is also involved in the Brand Activation Association (part of the Association of National Advertisers), including speaking at the ANA/BAA Marketing Law Conference in 2021. Prior to joining InfoLawGroup, she practiced in the Advertising, Marketing and Brand Protection Group at Winston & Strawn.

Representative Experience

  • Assisting clients in the execution of international programs and promotions, including worldwide multimillion dollar grant programs and hackathons

  • Negotiating agreements for high value sponsorship properties, including NBA, NFL, MLB and MLS teams

  • Advising clients regarding promotion execution, including drafting sweepstakes, contest and complex loyalty and incentive program rules and terms

  • Representing clients before the National Advertising Division and assisting clients with inquiries from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state regulators

  • Advising on FTC compliance obligations and related claim substantiation, including “Made in the USA” claims, use of endorsements and testimonials, and environmental “green” claims

  • Advising clients on all aspects of trademark clearance, protection, maintenance and licensing, including management of international portfolios with registrations in dozens of countries

  • Counseling clients on third party rights issues and related licensing

  • Drafting and negotiating agency/client agreements, talent and influencer agreements, strategic partnership and product integration agreements, and affiliate marketing agreements, as well as vendor agreements, music licenses and non-disclosure agreements

  • Advising clients regarding applicable state and Federal laws and regulations, including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA and the Lanham Act

  • Advising on autorenewal and subscription program disclosures and related compliance obligations

  • Developing website/application terms of use and privacy policies and related website and mobile app 

  • Advising clients on consumer privacy compliance obligations, including CCPA
